Ranbir Kapoor has been busy promoting Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The film, which is releases in theatres in two days, marks his return to the romantic comedy genre. It also marks his third release within a year’s time. The actor has always worked on diverse characters and plans to continue doing that. However, he feels responsible as an actor who does not want to influence society in a bad way. During a group interaction on Sunday, which Bollywood Hungama was a part of, Ranbir Kapoor was asked if there was any character or genre of sorts he wouldn’t like to do now. The actor quipped, “I am constantly fighting and cribbing about his (Luv Ranjan) marketing gimmicks and promotions. I told him that next time I am going to put it in my contract that I won't do marketing.” He continued, “But I'm just acting like a whining child; it's not impossible to do my job. We work very hard enough, and it's my duty to do this, so I should not be cribbing and crying.” However, as an actor, he feels a sense of responsibility. “No, as an actor, I'm ready to do anything. I'm a responsible artist; I don't want to influence society in a bad way. I try to do characters that inspire people; sometimes you do characters that are not meant to inspire but are just for entertainment purposes, and those shouldn't be taken too seriously.” During the same conversation, he recalled how his character Bunny from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is now considered “toxic” by a section of the audience. “I remember when Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was released, and people really loved that film. But today, there is a certain conversation that he is a toxic character. Now I'm not doing Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to spread that toxic masculinity; I was playing a part. So as an actor, I've got enough empathy for that character to play that part. But I am not that person. I am not the characters I play, so that is an understanding I have. But there is nothing that I wouldn't want to do,” the actor said on Sunday in Mumbai. Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar releases in theatres on March 8. Helmed by Luv Ranjan, the film also stars Shraddha Kapoor. He also has Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal set for August 2023 release.
