BMC issues apology after John Abraham slams them for spreading misinformation

Amid the Covid-19 pandemic that continues to take a bigger shape in India, authorities and administrative bodies are also working to spread awareness. Over 15 civic bodies including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recently distributed posters and pamphlets, asking people to stay away from animals as a preventive measure from Coronavirus.

Actor John Abraham, who is a known pet lover, took to Twitter to bust the misinformation. "Animals do not get or transmit Covid 19... Please don’t be misinformed," he wrote. It has been earlier notified that pet animals do not expose us to the risk of catching Coronavirus.

As soon as this came to BMC's notice, they issued an apology on Twitter and arranged the pamphlets and posters to be withdrawn. "Sir, We regret the misinformation that led to panic among pet owners. We too love pets & hence as soon as this was brought to our notice, all of these hoarding were removed with immediate effect. We request you to help spread the message & help us keep Mumbai safe. Thank you," it wrote, on the official Twitter handle.

John appreciated the quick measure taken and responded back to BMC. "Appreciate it and thanks for responding so swiftly. Stay safe people and pets out there," his reply read.
