Javed Akhtar reacts to his comment on 26/11 attacks; says, “It became too big, it feels embarrassing”

Javed Akhtar recently went to a festival in Lahore to honour the author Faiz Ahmed Faiz, where he learned that Indians believe all Pakistanis to be terrorists. In a sharp response, Javed stated that the terrorists of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks continue to roam freely in Pakistan. Since then, he has been at the centre of the debate; while Indian celebrities and politicians are applauding him for the statement, Pakistani celebrities like Ali Zafar have criticised him. Javed reiterated his remarks from the event while speaking at an ABP event. He said, “It became too big, it feels embarrassing, feel like I should not go (for such events). Yaha aya to laga pata nahi third World War jeet ke aya hoon. The people and the media have so many reactions. I was embarrrased aisa kya keh diya? Itni baat to kehni padegi, chup rahein kya?” He further added, “I got to know that people are abusing me there. They are asking, ‘Why was he given visa?’ Is tarah ki baatein, jo thodisi sensitive aur controversial ho… jis mulk mein paida hue, jisme rehte hain aur jisme marenge waha karte rehte hai toh do din wahaa gaye the, wahaan kya darna? Jab yaha nahi darte toh wahaan kya darenge?” He was questioned about how he mustered the confidence to say these things in front of a Pakistani audience. He replied, “I’m sure the youth of Pakistan will embrace you with open arms. I’ll tell you one thing — No country is a monolith. What happens is that we start believing that the policies of their government and establishment is what the country is about. But that’s not true.” He further added, “The fact is that it is very unfortunate that we are unaware that there is a huge segment in Pakistan that wants to have a good relation with India and that is totally understandable, not because they are saints, but because they are seeing a country next door jahaan itna development hai, itni industries hai, jahaan par corportate world itna develop kar gaya, jahaan culture itna hai, jahaan music aur films itni peak pe hai. So, an average citizen of that country would obviously be curious and would want to come here and see and if given an opportunity of a job or a presentation, he’ll run to do it and it totally understandable.” The Faiz Festival was a three-day event, which commenced on February 17 and ended on February 19. Javed believed that it was unfair to expect Indians to disregard the fact that the attackers were living freely in Pakistan after having witnessed the horrors of the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. SCOOP: Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar's makers contemplating preponing the release of the Ranbir Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor starrer by a day

The much-awaited romcom, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, is less than two weeks away from its release and there's considerable excitement among the audiences. The trailer and songs of this Ranbir Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor starrer have worked well and trade expects Luv Ranjan’s directorial to have a huge opening at the box office. And if sources are to be believed, the makers are thinking of releasing it sooner than expected. A source said, "Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar is scheduled to release on Wednesday, March 8. But the producers are toying with the idea of preponing it and releasing it a day earlier, on Tuesday, March 7.” The source continued, "The second day of Holi falls on March 7. There has been confusion over this aspect. In many places, the Holi holiday will be on March 7. To take advantage of it, the makers felt that it was wise to come on March 7 since that's when it'll get maximum footfalls." The source, however, also added, “A decision will be taken in a few days. If Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar gets ready in time, it’ll be out on Tuesday, March 7. Or else, it’ll arrive in cinemas on March 8, as scheduled.” If Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar releases on March 7, it will enjoy an extended six-day weekend, which is very unusual as filmmakers prefer releasing the day on Thursday or at the most on Wednesday, if not on Friday, to take advantage of a festive holiday. Last year, the Diwali releases - Akshay Kumar starrer Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn-Sidharth Malhotra-Rakul Preet Singh starrer Thank God - also got a release on Tuesday, October 25, as that was the day of the post-Diwali holiday. EXCLUSIVE: Deepak Tijori shares his views on Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan; says, “They are meticulous actors whereas I am a spontaneous guy”

Actor-director Deepak Tijori gave stellar performances in the blockbuster film Aashiqui. The actor has also worked with top Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and Aamir Khan in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. In a recent interview when Deepak shared his views on the superstars Shah Rukh and Aamir. In an exclusive video interview with Bollywood Hungama, when Deepak was asked who was a better co-star between Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan is, he said, “Actually both were the same because you know both had this unique quality. I had experiences with both of them in regards to similar ways. They are meticulous actors whereas I am a spontaneous guy, so I don’t believe in lot of rehearsals and same I had with Shah (Shah Rukh Khan) and I had with Aamir (Aamir Khan).” To explain his point, he cited an example from the time when he had shot with Shah Rukh Khan for the film Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. He said, “(Shah Rukh told Deepak) Deepak let’s do the reading once again or let’s do the scene again. So, I was like boss I’ll do the reading, you do the scene. So, I will just go for the take.” Explaining the kinds of actors Shah Rukh and Aamir were, he said, “There are two kinds of actors. There are actors who get better and better with every take because it is like performing and getting it better; crafting the whole thing and getting it better. So, Aamir and Shah, both are very good in those things.” On the work front, Tijori received fame after Mahesh Bhatt casted him in Aashiqui in 1990. He had produced the 1993 murder mystery Pehla Nasha, which was directed by Gowariker. The movie struggled at the box office after receiving negative reviews upon release. Deepak has contributed to a number of movies, including Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. His will soon feature in Tipppsy and Ittar. As for Shah Rukh Khan, he was recently seen in the blockbuster film Pathaan starring alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. He will be next seen in Jawan and Dunki this year. SCOOP: Sanjay Dutt to play a villain in Hera Pheri’s third part, starring Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal?

The past week has been dominated by Hera Pheri. It all began with the report that the much-awaited comedy sequel has gone on floors on February 21. He’s expected to add to the madness quotient of the Hera Pheri series.” The source further said, “Sanjay Dutt is superb in comedy roles and the makers felt he’ll be right for this role. Moreover, his casting will add to the brand value. Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan talks about his privileges, and how he lets life plan for him. He strongly believes that life will take care of the rest if one has lofty goals and puts a lot of effort into whatever it is that fires those desires. The late actor Irrfan's son Babil Khan was introduced by a major studio, and he did not choose the lead character in his debut movie, Qala. That was because he is attempting to find his way in the industry away from his perks. Babil told Hindustan Times, “I am not trying to battle any questions that come with privilege. I have experienced privilege in my life, why must I hide from that truth? Instead, I try to stay true to my sense of morality and the values of my upbringing in the use of that privilege.” He further added, “To use privilege as a short cut to success is not our way, but to utilise privilege to grow and evolve is essential. This notion arises within me from the understanding that life gives you privilege as an opportunity and the way you put that opportunity into effect is the test of your character. For instance, instead of using my privilege to fetch me work, I utilise the privilege of baba’s connections through being around and absorbing from people that are immersed in and masters of the craft; then I apply the knowledge gained from those experiences in my auditions and my work. I don’t think the ethical questions regarding privilege are about whether or not you have privilege but rather about how you use it.” Babil further spoke about how life already makes plans for itself. He said, “I am an explorer and I want to explore. What I desire today is probably different from what I might desire tomorrow so why must I burden myself and limit my experience with something as unreliable as a plan? One thing I know about life is that it hates plans, or at least the plans we make for ourselves, perhaps because it has already made a plan for you so it will kick your self-made plan in the face when it wants to.” According to Babil, if one has huge aspirations and works hard at the craft that fuels those dreams, life will take care of the rest, especially the planning. “I am not here to plan for myself, I am here to enjoy the experience of life’s plan for me. There is no plan, there is an eventual goal which is of internal evolution and that’s it,” he concluded. On the work front, Babil Khan made his debut in Anvita Dutt's Qala, which also starred Triptii Dimri. He will next be seen in the web series, The Railway Men based on the Bhopal Gas Tragedy. Raju, Shyam and Baburao to go international in Hera Pheri 4, “They will do Hera Pheri globally,” reveals Paresh Rawal

The news about the third film in the Hera Pheri franchise was out two days back on February 22. A leaked photo of the famous trio from the series – Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal – along with the team were spotted shooting a promo for the movie in a studio in Mumbai. Interestingly, despite it being the third film in the franchise, it is titled Hera Pheri 4. There is a lot of curiosity among the fans to know what the next instalment of the series has in store. It is now learnt that this time, the Hera Pheri trio of Raju, Shyam and Babu bhaiya, played by Akshay, Shetty and Rawal, would travel internationally. Rawal revealed this in a conversation with Mid-Day along with the shooting schedule of the film. “We’ll begin shooting in three months,” he told the publication. “It will be a (long) schedule in Mumbai. The movie will also be shot in international locations like Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Los Angeles, as Babu bhaiya, Raju and Shyam go abroad. They’ll do hera pheri globally.” Rawal was happy to meet his co-stars for the promo shoot recently. “Meeting them felt like ghar wapsi. It’s always a joy shooting with Akshay and Suniel. They are talented actors who are not insecure about their work. We have mutual respect. Our off-screen camaraderie reflects in our on-screen chemistry,” he further told the publication. Earlier, there were reports about Kartik Aaryan replacing Akshay in the third part of Hera Pheri. Reacting on this, Rawal revealed, “As far as I know, initially, both Kartik and Akshay were to do the film, but it didn’t work out. I don’t know what happened.” The first film in the series, titled Hera Pheri, had released in 2000 and it became a cult classic. It was directed by Priyadarshan. Ali Zafar slams Javed Akhtar for making insensitive statements on Pakistan

Ali Zafar, a Pakistani actor and singer, criticised Javed Akhtar for his remarks about the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks at the Faiz Festival in Lahore last week. Ali had previously taken to social media to share his happiness over singing in front of Akhtar recently. He talked about his love and loyalty for his country in an Instagram story. He also wrote about the impact that Akhtar's insensitive and uncalled for statements can have on so many people's feelings. He took to his Instagram Stories and wrote, “Guys, I love you all and truly value your praise and criticism equally. But I always request one thing – verify facts before reaching any conclusion or judgement. I was not present at the Faiz Mela nor aware of what was said until the next day when I saw it on social media.” He added, “I am a proud Pakistani and naturally no Pakistani would appreciate any statement against its country or people specially at an event meant to bring hearts closer than further. Nawazuddin Siddiqui dowry case dismissed by Mumbai court

Readers may be aware that for the past few days, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is in news after his ‘former’ wife Aaliya Siddiqui threw major allegations against his family, including that of house arrest and as well as forcing her and their children to only use selected facilities within their residence. Along with her complaint, she had also alleged that Siddiqui and his family are harassing her for dowry and had moved the court regarding the same. However, as per recent reports, the Mumbai court has dismissed her pleas after their divorce documents were presented. In recent reports, lawyers Adnan Shaikh and Drishti Khurana had alleged that the couple are not married anymore. Presenting evidence to support their argument, the lawyers clarified in their statement that they produced divorce documents of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Aaliya Siddiqui aka Zainab. Following this, the court dismissed two pleas. In their statement, the lawyers also alleged how the marriage documents were presented to the court but their divorce documents were concealed. Talking about Aaliya Siddiqui, after she claimed that she and her kids were being tortured by Nawaz’s parents in their house, she had taken to social media to post videos of how there were security guards in her residence. In the video, Aaliya aka Zainab had shared how these guards refused her access to basic places like bathroom and toilet as she and her kids, were allegedly, allowed to use only the living room. As for the case, Aaliya had registered the case at Versova police station against Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his family by filing an FIR against them under sections 498A, 509, and others of IPC on the grounds of dowry harassment and protection of women’s rights. This came after Aaliya was allegedly accused of trespassing by Siddqui’s family. Boney Kapoor recalls the first time he met Sridevi on her 5th death anniversary; filmmaker shares videos in her memory

Boney Kapoor and Sridevi were one of the most beloved couples of the industry and her demise definitely left the entire Kapoor family in shock. Boney, who often recalls his memories with her, posts about it on social media and today on her fifth death anniversary, the filmmaker took to Instagram to share two video clips from the India Today Woman Summit, which had Sridevi as the Chief Guest. In the video clip, Boney Kapoor is seen in the audience and he was handed over the mic to talk about the Indian actress. During the same, he recalled his first meeting with her. In the video, Boney Kapoor recalled how it was love at first sight for him when he saw her in one of the Tamil films. "It happened the first time I saw her on screen, this was probably in the late 70s, when I saw one of her Tamil films. I said to myself that this is someone I would want to have in my film. We were planning to make a Rishi Kapoor film those days. I had bought the rights for a film.” In the same video, he also added that at that time he was working on Rishi Kapoor film. Although Rishi had not read the script before speaking to the Kapoor actor, Boney took off to Chennai to meet Sridevi in a bid to sign her as the leading lady. However, he added disappointingly that he couldn’t meet her then because she was in Singapore shooting for one of her films, adding, “She was always on my mind.” Later, he went on to talk about how he loved her Hindi film Solva Sawan (a Hindi remake of her Tamil film 16 Vayanthinile) and how it had an impact on him. Boney further added that he was waiting for the right opportunity which he got with Mr. India. "I went up to her set, met her. When I met her, it was almost like a dream come true. You know, she is an introvert and doesn't communicate very easily with strangers, and I was a stranger at that point of time. The few words that she spoke in broken Hindi and broken English, they touched me and moved me. I got more curious to know her. But Boney continued, “Her mother quoted a figure. She told me that Sridevi will charge Rs. 10 lacs which was probably her way of negotiating. But I went ahead and said, ‘no I will pay her Rs. 11 lacs. Her mother probably thought I was a crazy producer from Mumbai who actually offered her more than what she asked for.
